It's a Song,

It's the World Famous
Chattanooga
Choo Choo! |
See the Train! Hear the Song! Know the History!
The first Chattanooga Choo Choo was Cincinnati Southern Railroad's
small wood burning steam locomotive that started its journey through
history from Cincinnati, Ohio on March 5, 1880.
Nearly all trains traveling to the South passed through Chattanooga.
The wood-burning "Choo Choo" was first to provide non-stop service.
The Chattanooga Choo Choo engine now on display at Terminal Station
is the same kind of wood-burner used on that first run from Cincinnati
to Chattanooga in 1880. Built at that time by Baldwin, it was last used
in service by the Smoky Mountain Railroad between Knoxville and
the Smoky Mountains in the 1940's.
Completely refurbished, she is the only engine of her kind now in the city.

In 2008, the Three Rivers Rambler begins its 9th season highlighting
East Tennessee's unique history and beauty. Guests aboard the excursion
train enjoy a ninety minute trip along the Tennessee River. Beginning the
journey in Downtown Knoxville, the Rambler travels past historical site to
the "Three Rivers Trestle" where the French Broad and Holston Rivers join
to form the Tennessee River.
Along the route, the Three Rivers Rambler passes by beautiful farmland, Knoxville's first settlement area, and several quarries that were mined
to build our nation's Capital. The uniformed conductor and our volunteer
staff are well-versed in the local history and welcome questions during
the 90 minute, 11 mile trip.
Our 2008 Season will run from May to August.
